Rapid Travels Series: 48 hours in New York City

Welcome to the new blog post series that I’m excited to introduce this week: Rapid Travels. What is it all about? In this series, I will share quick itineraries for different destinations, near and far. Sometimes, we only have a weekend for a quick getaway somewhere. Or you’re taking a longer trip somewhere, but stopping at another location, and needs ideas of things to do. That’s why i’ve created this series of posts to share with you. If you have a particular destination in mind that you’d like me to cover, make sure to reach out via email.

NYC in 48-hours:

Day 1

Morning

Start your visit in the Big Apple with a cruise to see the Statue of Liberty and the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration. The earlier you book your cruise for, the better! Make sure you prebook this activity, as it does sell out! The Immigration Museum is really interesting part of US History, and I highly recommend the visit.
This activity can easily take your all morning.

Afternoon

Right after your visit to the Liberty and Ellis Islands, head over to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. Prebook your tickets for quickest access. This is an incredibly touching experience, and everyone should visit at least once.
You can wonder around at your own pace, but you should expect to spend at least couple of hours in this area.

From here, head over to the Brooklyn Bridge for a quick walk (you don’t need to cross, if your time is limited), and a photo op. If you have a bit more time, and feel like walking, you can cross to DUMBO area in Brooklyn, and admire the Manhattan views. It takes about 30 minutes or so, to cross the bridge each way. It can be longer if the bridge is especially crowded.

Evening

It’s time to see a Broadway show! The most popular shows sell out in advance, but many will still offer last minute tickets. Depending on the start/end time of the show, you may be able to check out Times Square before or after the show. While it’s a very touristy area, full of shopping and street artists, the billboards and all the lights make it an interesting evening experience.

Day 2

Morning

I know what you’re going to say: “Nothing more touristy than a Hop-on Hop-off bus.” Yes, I agree, but trust me. Hop-on Hop-off bus is a great way to see the city, and learn some interesting facts, especially if you haven’t been there before. Start the day with a ride, and you’ll get a better understanding of this bustling city. If time allows, do some shopping around 5th Avenue.

Afternoon

After being a tourist for few hours, it’s time to spend some time in Central Park, like a local. If the weather is nice, enjoy a picnic in the park, walk miles and miles of trails, visit the famous spots and see if you can recognize some movie locations throughout the area. Maybe even rent a bike and enjoy a ride.
If Central Park is not a viable option (mobility issues, bad weather etc.), hit up one of many museums, ex. the MET, Guggenheim, Museum of Natural History.

Evening

We can’t forget about a visit at one of multiple observation decks in the city, and (pre)sunset is a great time for just that. The views of the city are great, and you can’t miss this activity. Make sure to research the observation deck you want to visit, as they are not all created equal, trust me!
If the night is still young, you may want to go (rooftop)bar-hopping, see a comedy show or one of many other shows available in this city that never sleeps.

And remember, New York is a city that offers countless activities and entertainment. While this itinerary is geared more towards first-time visitor, there is so much more to see in this bustling metropolis. And depending on the time you spend at each attraction, you may be able to squeeze couple more things here and there. If you’re planning a visit to NYC and would like a professional to plan all the details, and create a custom, hour-by-hour itinerary for your individual needs, let’s talk. Our detailed itineraries for 2-day trips like this start at $97*, and the time you’ll save not having to do all the research is worth so much more than that! The above itinerary is just a general idea of things to do, but we can get into so much more detail when we’re curating personalized trips.

I’d love to work with you to plan your custom, professionally curated itinerary that fits your needs.
